Day 4: MGM All Day

Again, we took it easy getting up this next morning, but still managed to make it to the park by 10 am. The kids' presents for the morning were their own Disney cups. It was the perfect present for the day, as now we had something to put Hayden's drinks in so we wouldn't lose an entire large pop to the "non-sharer!" It was our first day at Disney MGM Studios (soon to be renamed just Disney Studios). After entering the park, we realized that Lightning McQueen and Mater were scheduled to make an appearance shortly so we headed over that direction. Craig waited with the kids in line as I went to the other side of the park to get fast passes for Tower of Terror. The kids had a great time "meeting" the cars as they are both HUGE fans of the Cars movie.

Since we hadn't eaten breakfast yet, we decided to grab an early lunch at the Studio Catering Co. Flatbread Grill, which interestingly enough, did not have anything with flatbread nor did it have anything grilled, hummmm, should have realized it wasn't going to be good!

We took our time eating as our next stop was Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at 1. The stunt show was amazing! Hayden especially loved the fast cars, loud noises and most of all, the explosions!

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Show was scheduled next so we headed that direction. On the way there, we saw that the wait was only 5 minutes for Star Tours, so Craig and Ellie quickly rode it. When they came out, Ellie was excited to have received a birthday card signed by all the cast members working at the ride! Pretty cool! Since they had stopped to ride the ride, we showed up for Indy just a few minutes before the show was due to start and only seats on the far edges were available. As we were walking to our seats, a cast member stopped us and asked how many people were in our party. He then said wait right here I have just the seat for you and lead us down to reserved seating, front and center for the show! Again, pretty cool, huh! We watched the beginning of the show but before too long Ellie began to get antsy and asked if we could just leave, because all she wanted to do was ride Star Tours again. I didn't blame her, as this was probably the 3rd or 4th time I'd seen the show and nothing new had really been added. So...us girls left the boys and we rode Star Tours. I have to say, I remember the ride being a little more exciting than it was but I think I only rode it a few times right when the park originally opened. I think it too has become a bit dated.

We met up with the boys and collectively decided we needed to something for the kids, as we had just seen two stunt shows back to back so we went over to see Playhouse Disney-Live. We just missed the current show so we went and watched the Stars and Cars Parade. Again, the family favorite..."Puppy!" After the parade, we caught the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show and then it was time for Bear in the Big Blue House. Outside of the theater were JoJo and Goliath from JoJo's Flying Circus and Leo from the Little Einsteins. Ellie was in a mood and didn't want to see them but decided she could "help" Hayden. She was glad that she did go with him because she got to see Goliath "sign" her autograph book by just pressing his hand on the page and his "paw print' magically appeared!

The Playhouse Disney-Live show provided me with another tears of joy moments as a mom. Hayden absolutely adores Bear in the Big Blue House and nearly lost his mind with excitement when he saw him take the stage. The kids had soooo much fun dancing and running around (as the theater wasn't full at all). It was so sweet to see the two of them really get into the excitement of it all.

Craig had seen his stunt shows, Ellie saw the Disney show, Hayden got up close and personal with Cars, now it was my turn to do the one thing I wanted to do at MGM-ride Tower of Terror! I carefully explained the ride to Ellie, how it would be very intense, how we'd be falling and it would be very scary but she was adamant about riding it. So off we went. Yup, it sure was intense. After every other thrill ride Ellie had cheerfully said, "I can't wait to ride it again" but this time she looked at me with a pale face and said, "mommy, I don't want to ride this again.! Poor baby!!! I guess she had finally met her match. She said she wasn't afraid of the ride, just didn't like it too much as, "her stomach went higher than the rest of her!" Craig rode the ride, we did a little shopping and off we went to have dinner. On our walk, we stopped to get pictures with June from the Little Einsteins as there was no one else in line!

We had made reservations that night for dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. By this point, Hayden was a bit overtired and was bouncing around to try to stay awake. Thankfully, we sat in a corner booth but I commented to the mother and son next to us, that they probably didn't realize they were going to get dinner AND a show during their meal that night! At one point Hayden managed to drop every utensil we had been given on the floor, ugh! Since we were on the dinning plan we each got to pick an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. We had a ton of food and THEN they brought out a cupcake each for Craig and Ellie to celebrate their birthdays! We let the kids sample the cupcakes and then asked for a box to take them with us in.

There was an hour before the Fantasmic show was going to start so we quickly headed over t see the Muppet Vision 3-D movie. We had a bit of time in the waiting area of the theater and had a chance to find lots of cool little things like the key under the welcome mat, "a net full of jello," the box of 2-D fruities, and the picture of Jim Henson as a muppet. The kids liked the show, as did I, it's an oldie but goody and we quickly headed across the park for Fantasmic. Even though we were all exhausted, we were glad we had stayed for the "nighttime spectacular." It's an amazing show. Off to the hotel we went for some much needed sleep as the next day was Ellie's birthday and oh, what a day we had planned!!!!
