Checking Out the Train Museum

In the next town over, there is a super cool train museum! We discovered it while on a trip with our MOMS Club today. When we arrived, the kids all got to take a special trip around the track on a miniature diesel engine train that even went through a tunnel building (shh, don't tell them that it was just the storage garage).

There are several retired train cars on the property so the kids had the opportunity to climb in a couple of caboose (cobooses? caboosi?, what's the plural, HA), and a dining car. The museum sits on the former town depot and they have restored the old waiting area, so the kids had fun trying out the old benches. The best part about the entire place is the miniatures building where volunteers and enthusiasts have painstakingly recreated the town in the 1950s. The lay out of the project is huge with lots of trains weaving in, out, around, and through. The kids spent most of their time in this building because it truly was fascinating. Oh, and the best part of the museum, all this is free to the public, they only ask for donations! Truly a treasure for our community!
