The kids and I explored the TT Wentworth Museum this morning. According to their website it was "originally built in the early 1900s as City Hall, the Spanish Revival style building now serves the community as the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum. The museum houses a treasure trove of artifacts displaying West Florida's rich heritage. Named after local historian and collector, T.T. Wentworth, Jr., the museum will soon celebrate it's 50th anniversary." That description misses the most important feature of the museum for us: the third floor Discovery Hall. It is the mock up of several scenes of Pensacola during the late 1800s. There is a sailing ship, a Native American village, a military fort, a trading post, and a Creole cottage. In each of the scenes, there are tons of props and costumes that kids can use to play and create. The kids had an amazing time-we stayed for 2 1/2 hours and I still had to drag them out of the place! Oh, and get this, it was FREE!!! Love me some free!
