Blueberries and Balloons

Yesterday was a day filled with lots of family and fun! Mom had everyone over here at her house for a late barbecue lunch. Mom made her infamous macaroni salad that half of those in attendance wouldn't eat because, as usual, there was tuna in it! It's had tuna in it since the beginning of time, why would that change. Holly brought the fixings for berry shortcake, with the biggest biscuits you have ever seen! Upon his arrival, Jake promptly led Ellie and Hayden off to the woods in search of wild raspberries. The kids had so much fun picking the berries; Ellie couldn't believe she could pick them off the vines and eat them right up! Hayden made a new best friend in Chuck "Murphy" Norris, Andy's new dog. They made such great playmates because they're the same size. Even when "Murph" got a little too excited, it didn't bother Hayden to be licked, knocked down, or even jumped on. After eating dinner, Ethan took Jake and Ellie off in search of blueberries. When they returned, they had a bucket full of the biggest, plumpest, sweetest blueberries ever!

This weekend in Perry is the Silver Lake Sea Serpent Festival. After Grandma C. went home, the rest of us packed up and headed to the Village Park to watch the hot air balloon launch. It was incredible to see a dozen balloons fill with air and lift off right in front of us. Ellie's favorite ballooon was the ReMax balloon-maybe because she has great faith that OUR Remax realtor is going to sell our house this weekend! Hayden fell asleep in the car on the way back to Grammie's house, so I washed his little brown feet and set him in bed. Too much excitement wore the poor little guy right out!
