NAS with Gramma and Papa

In the year that we've lived here, we have been to the Naval Air Museum once before, but had yet to make it to either the the twice-annual Blue Angel Airshows or any of their twice-weekly practices, until today!!!

Everyone got up super early to make the hour long drive across town. Just as we were pulling up to the museum, we could hear, then see the jets shooting across the sky. We quickly parked and walked to the airstrip at the back of the place. Just in time to join the rest of the spectators enjoying the amazing airshow.

The tricks these pilots performed were simply amazing. They'd zoom out of site, then reappear right in front of you zipping dangerously close to the ground and each other. At the end of the show, all the kids were invited up on the tarmac to wave flags as the soldier pilots were landing.

It's hard to believe we had waited so long to see this amazing treasure in our own backyard. We'll definately have to do it again!!!

After watching the practice, we went the the Naval Air Museum to check out the exhibits. The kids were pretty patient about being on the guided walking tour, knowing at the end of it all, they'd be able to climb in some of the aircraft.

It was busy day, and i certainly was exhausted by the time we got home, but I think everyone managed to have a great time!
